My Story

Hey! My name is Kitty Krell, I've been cosplaying and making corsets for about 15 years!

I've been sewing since I was little. My mom used to make my Halloween costumes; I would draw them and she would pin fabric onto me until it turned into what I sketched. When I got into anime, I started wanting so many costumes, she told me to do it myself! So I did. I was 14 then, and I went ahead and started making my own costumes. The next summer, when I was 15, I got a job at my local Renaissance Festival, and couldn't afford to buy a corset, so I decided to make my own. (I still have it, though I definitely do not fit in it anymore)

After 7 years self taught and taking commissions on costumes, dresses, and corsets, I went to school to improve my finishing, and find out what I didn't know I didn't know.

A year or so after finishing school, I got a lucky break, and a friend from faire called me, asking if I'd be interested in working for her as a seamstress in her store. I did that for a couple years before switching to corsets only, and bought the store from my friends who previously owned it!

So now I make between 30-50 corsets a year, plus a healthy dose of bridal work out of my little masquerade boutique in Denver's antique district!
